Hey, Sis,
Did you know that (approximately) half of the white students admitted to Harvard weren’t just brilliant or exceptionally talented—they had a leg up? A recent study by the National Bureau of Economic Research found that 43% of white students admitted were either recruited athletes, legacy students, children of faculty and staff or on the dean’s interest list (aka, the kids of major donors).
Meanwhile, Black and Brown students are often told we need to be exceptional just to get a seat at the table. The playing field has never been level, but now the receipts are undeniable. So, what does this mean for us? For our businesses, our brands, our generational wealth?
We’re diving deep into this topic—because if the system is rigged, then it’s time we start building our own. Whether it’s institutions, businesses or communities that pour back into us, the conversation is long overdue.
Grab your favorite cocktail (or mocktail) and pull up a seat. Let’s talk about access, gatekeeping, and how we make moves despite it all.
